Beginning with August 23rd, a new exhibition “Estonian colours” is open to the public at Tartu Song Festival Museum.The exhibition “Estonian colours” evokes the Song and Dance Festival of 2014 entitled “Touched by Time – The Time to Touch”, with pictures by photographers Aivar Pihelgas, Jaanus Ree, Ilmārs Znotiņš, Jelena Rudi, Sven Začek and Rene Mitt. “Our idea is to show more of a small nation with big dreams, and of our desire to be a part of without losing ourselves in it. We will keep our colours and our feeling of togetherness,” say the artists.The Song and Dance Celebration, a tradition going back 150 years, is a part of UNESCO world cultural heritage. Every five years, it bring together tens of thousands of choir singers, musicians anf folk dancers to perform in the Estonian capital. It has become a vital part of Estonian culture and has influenced people’s lives and destinies in countless ways.The photos were exhibited at the European Economic and Social Committee in Brussels during the Estonian Presidency of the Council of the European Union in 2017.The photos were produced by the order of Eesti Laulu- ja Tantsupeo SA in 2017. The exhibition was supported by Nikon.The exhibition is open to the public at Tartu Song Festival Museum until November 17th 2018.
